As part of the European project SUNPAP (Scale-Up Nanoparticles in Modern Papermaking) launched in 2009, Karim Missoum, CEO of InoFib, wrote his thesis on surface functionalization and modification of cellulose nanofibrils. The study was directed by Naceur Belgacem and Julien Bras. Defended on November 2012 at LGP2 (Laboratory of Pulp and Paper Science and Graphic Arts), Grenoble (France), the thesis resulted in two patent applications. Throughout its expansion and with the support of the Grenoble INP valorization unit, InoFib was officially created in October 2014.
Karim Missoum achieved a successful launch of the promising start-up InoFib by winning a national aid program for enterprise creation from BpiFrance, two years in a row in 2013 and 2014.
Karim MissoumInoFib CEO, PhD & Engineer degree
Graduate engineer with a Master 2 degree in the field of material, polymer and biopolymer, Karim Missoum did his PhD thesis at the LGP2 (Laboratory of Pulp and Paper Science and Graphic Arts), in Grenoble, France. He defended his thesis in November 2012 and has since had 7 scientific papers published and 2 processes patented. These highly promising research projects led to the launch of the start-up InoFib, strengthened through its successful result in a national aid program for enterprise creation.
Julien BrasAssociate Professor, Grenoble INP-Pagora/LGP2
With his extensive experience in specialty papers industry and numerous research projects in the fields of nanocelluloses and biomaterials, Julien Bras is today Associate Professor at Grenoble INP-Pagora and LGP2. He is in charge of the research team specialized in multi-scale biosourced materials. He was the co-director of M. Missoum’s PhD thesis and provides InoFib with its scientific support.
Naceur BelgacemDirector & Professor of Grenoble INP-Pagora
A wide range of research projects and numerous teaching experiences all around the world, in the field of bio-based polymers, led Naceur Belgacem to become the director of Grenoble INP-Pagora in 2014. He also managed the LGP2 for several years (from 2002 to 2010). Furthermore, he is a member of the chief editors’ board of the scientific journal Industrial Crops and Products since 2007 and has been a member of The International Association of Wood Science for almost ten years. Naceur Belgacem directed Karim Missoum’s PhD thesis and also provides InoFib with its scientific support.
Hippolyte DurandApprenticeship at InoFib, Master degree: Innovation Management & Technology (Grenoble IAE)
Hippolyte graduated with a Master in Engineering degree from Grenoble INP-Pagora, the International School of Paper, Print Media and Biomaterials in 2014. He decided to further enrich his studies with a Master degree in innovation management, through an apprenticeship contract with InoFib.
